We are one of only two clubs that cater specifically to Apple Mac users, which includes relating technology and equipment, security online, and general knowledge and help with navigating the internet safely. Our Monthly meeting is held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Gracecity Church, 17 Marewa Road, Greenlane at 1pm. We offer a help desk 1 hour prior to our monthly meetings, where you can seek help with your devices or discuss club matters. We offer small group learning sessions run by our more experienced members that are available to tutor. We also offer individual one-on-one sessions which can be arranged to suit both your ability and interests at a time agreed between you and the tutor. Recognising the need for Mac-specific help, founder members Art Weeds and Douglas Peacock placed a small advertisement in a community newspaper. The response from Mac users was immediate and enthusiastic. This strong interest led to an application for incorporation, and on 16 February 2001, Mac Senior Net was officially registered as an Incorporated Society. The first monthly meeting was held at the Highland Park Community Centre, with early lessons taking place in members’ homes using borrowed Macs. As membership steadily increased, funding was secured and equipment was purchased. By 2011, continued growth saw the establishment of a central city venue, with regular meetings at the Community of St Luke’s, while the Howick group moved to Te Tuhi Art Centre. In 2026, the Howick and central city groups were combined into a single, more central venue at Gracecity Church in Greenlane.
